International Women’s Day: RiskLogic #BreakTheBias

March 8th marks International Women’s Day (IWD), a day to celebrate and action diversity, inclusion and solidarity amongst workplaces, our families and cultures.

This year’s theme focuses on Breaking The Bias. IWD put it best, “Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias”.

To demonstrate support and to show our solidarity, RiskLogic staff have posed with the crossing of the arms, to remind us to actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping.

I strive to break the gender bias by recognising that it is not the responsibility of women to make this change. In playing my part, I continue to learn how to recognise unconscious bias and call it out in myself and others when I see it.

In 2022, let us first acknowledge that biases towards woman exist and together improve our understanding of the challenges that may influence such bias. Let us support woman that feel devalued or discriminated and embracing the richness that diversity brings.

As we’ve seen in examples across many crisis events the last three years, humans have the potential to support and encourage one another. We must continue this each and every year moving forward; providing an equal, fair environment for anyone and everyone.
